DJ Eric B
My first interest started as most Chicago DJs did — with the fascination of the way the Hot Mix 5 put their music together, not just house music but R&B. I attended Jackson State University in the '80s, where a friend had me fill in for him as DJ at a local club. I became a resident there and went on to build my own collection and play numerous local gigs until I moved back to Chicago and continued. That's when I started listening to WBMX and other local DJs, and even though I can't read music, I figured out the pattern of blending music.
